Scales of War
The Dwarfroad was once a bustling trade route through the dwarven kingdom that covered the Vale, reaching from the exotic lands of the northeast to the rich city-states of the southwest. It is well-crafted dwarf-work, raised above the surrounding ground with neatly-fitted flagstones and width for two carraiges to pass each other.
However, it’s best days are long past. In the absence of any unifying authority it is a prime candidate for bandits and other predators, and most traffic now uses an old cattle-track that parallels it to the south. In many places the flagstones are cracked, or humped by tree roots or loosened by persistent grasses.
At the far western end of the Vale the Dwarfroad passes through the city of Overlook (and the stretch in sight of the city’s walls is much safer) before descending through the mountains to make its way through the badlands beyond.
